Leslie Stone-Johnson has been making her living as a portrait and silhouette artist for twenty-nine years since she was a sophomore in high school in Solon, Ohio. She was fifteen when her art teacher suggested that she apply for a job as an artist at the local amusement park down the road. Since then she has worked in seven different amusement parks all over the country, and even spent four years in Japan doing watercolor portraits and cutting silhouettes at Tokyo Disneyland.
Now she’s based in California, and over the years she’s plied her trade at county fairs, malls, shopping centers, street fairs, seafood festivals, wineries and chili cook-offs. From carrots and almonds to Dickens and Sawdust - if there's a festival in California celebrating it, Leslie’s been there with her easel! The smaller the town the better. Says Ms. Stone-Johnson, “half the fun of this job is getting to see new places every week and meeting so many nice people who really appreciate what I do.”
